I adopted Jack from the grocery shop, where he grew up with 8 other stray cats.

I initially picked out another cat which randomly caught my eye. I took him and he settled on my car dashboard rather indifferently. The grocery shop owner then walked over with a black and white cat in his arms and said, why don't you take this cat instead? He is a very affectionate fellow compared to the rest; I believe he would appreciate a home most of all.

I recall the owner handing Jack to me while wiping tears away. Contrary to the other cat, Jack quietly seated himself on my lap. I was astonished and kept on petting him. He was black and white and had the most beautiful tail and coat. I slept with Jack that night. He appeared quiet and withdrawn; seemed to miss his old home.

I brought Jack to the vet for a review the next day and he was given the necessary deworming medication and routine checkup. Jack was malnourished, but otherwise doing fine.
